Diabetes mellitus is one of those various types of disorder where the sugar level in the blood increases without control or any limits. The sugar content in our blood is controlled by insulin and when the production of it is less the sugar levels in the blood get higher and very soon out of control. Usually there are 2 main reasons for the occurrence of diabetes mellitus in a patient. The first is due to the non-secretion of insulin and the second is when the secreted insulin is not used up in a proper manner by the body.
In both these cases, the sugar levels needs to be checked and brought under control quickly. Proper treatment should be given as diabetes mellitus if left unchecked will result in serious issues such as ulcer, eye problems, cataract etc. One should take regular lab tests and check the level of sugar in their blood. Sugar content in the urine also needs to be tested. When sugar levels are high, insulin is given to the person by means of an injection everyday.
